Honolulu International Airport (HNL) is Hawaii's main airport. If you are flying in from the West Coast, many of the major carriers have direct flights to Honolulu from San Francisco or Los Angeles. However, if you are flying from the East Coast, you'll have to make at least one stopover. We suggest getting getting a package deal (flight, hotel, and car) for the best deal. It's usually more expensive when you book these separately on your own. Expedia and Orbitz are two online travel sites where you can find these all-in-one packages. 
For John's family and friends coming from South Carolina, Delta Airlines is usually the best choice. (Or at least that's what John says!) I did a search online the other day and found the best deals on flights out of the Charleston airport and Columbus airport.Here are two recommended websites to search for deals on airfare! Click on their logos to go to their website. If you already have a favorite travel website, by all means, use it too! Also, remember that mid-week flights can usually save you some money!  This one website saves you the trouble of checking multiple websites when trying to find the best deal. Kayak will search other websites for you and return multiple options. If you find a fare that you would like to book, Kayak will link you to the website where the fare was found. Let Kayak do all the searching for you!
 Flight options and fares are a little better at Orbitz than at Expedia. When I was looking for flights from Japan to Hawaii, I found that fares on Orbitz were about $200 lower. They also offer the option of being alerted by text message to your cell phone if there are any major changes or cancellations for your flight. Check it out!
