Finding a place to stay without going bankrupt is possible in Hawaii (unless you decide to move here, then it's a different story)! There are many hotels, condos, and vacation rentals available for rent here.

One suggestion, if you wouldn't mind sharing a house with some of your extended family who will also be going to the wedding, consider getting a vacation rental together. Some of these large condos or homes can accommodate up to 10 or more people and will make the per person cost of accommodations much lower than paying for individual hotel rooms. Also, vacation rentals usually have full kitchens, so you can save money by cooking some of your own meals!

Once you find a place you think you might like, Trip Advisor is a good place to read reviews and view REAL pictures of the place. Also, check Kayak to see if you can get a better deal elsewhere rather than online with the hotel itself.

Most hotels have military, senior, and AAA discounted rates, so if any of these apply to you, inquire about them when you're booking your hotel room! It could save you some money!

To make sure there's something for everyone, here are our recommendations for hotels and accommodations in Hawaii. They've been separated into different sections, so click on the one you're most interested in!

If considering getting a vacation rental, keep in mind that rentals outside of the Honolulu/Waikiki area will probably require a rental car to get around as bus service to some of these areas may be limited or unavailable. Waikiki is the most convenient place to be in terms of having things to do and places to see. A drive from the North Shore to Honolulu will take over an hour. The drive from West Oahu is notorious for awful traffic between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 8:30! East Oahu traffic isn't as bad, but will still take at least 45 minutes! Please keep this in mind when booking your vacation rental!

A1 Vacations

This is a very easy site to navigate because of all of its pictures for each listing. This site is also great because there's an availability calendar on the page so you don't have to bother wasting your time calling or emailing the owner to find out that it's already booked!

Sample listing: Kailua 3 BR home, sleeps 6-8 people, $1120/week (6 guests), $20/each extra guest, beach is 2 blocks away, PC/Internet access, BBQ, Jacuzzi, outdoor porch

VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owner)

There are many more vacation rentals to choose from here, but not as easy to navigate as A1 Vacation's website. There are still many good deals to be found if you are diligent enough to sift through all the listings!

Sample listing: Waikiki 2 br condo, sleeps 4-6 people, $146/night (prime season) and $128/night (value season), 2 blocks away from Waikiki Beach, full kitchen, washer/dryer
